Meet Liv

Hi there! My name is Olivia, but everyone calls me Liv or Livi. I'm the founder and owner of Light by Liv LLC, and the sole creator of all the products we sell. When I first started making candles, I didn't realize that many of the ingredients used in common candles can be quite toxic and
non-sustainable. It wasn't until my sister discovered that I had started to dabble in candle making that I learned of this. She explained to me that she could not use candles in her home because she suffered from chronic migraines and candles would always cause a flare up. I was curious as to why something so simple as a candle would cause her migraines, and so I spent months doing research into various candle companies, ingredients and more...

Have you ever bought a candle because it smelt great in the store, but then it seemed to barely fill up a room when lit? Or have you bought one of those big brand-name candles and noticed headaches or allergies after it burns? The truth is, many brand name candles you find in stores contain toxic chemicals, non-sustainable ingredients and man-made products such as paraffin wax and phthalates. When burning, these toxins are released into the air where they can be inhaled or absorbed into the skin, causing about one in five people to experience symptoms such as headaches, sneezing and other sinus problems. Even worse, it could be affecting our children's and pet's health. Many companies attempted to combat this with the use of soy wax instead, but while soy wax may smell great at first sniff, it's commonly known to struggle to output much scent when burning, and is also not the most environmentally friendly and sustainable resource due to mass production and deforestation.

At Light by Liv, we strive to use only the highest quality of materials that are non-toxic, vegan, cruelty free and sustainable. This includes but is not limited to materials such as coconut wax, phthalate free fragrance oils and all natural, FSC certified wooden wicks. Now, we know that "greenwashing" has become highly popular these days. Many brands think that slapping an eco-friendly label on their products will increase sales, but they put in the bare minimum (if any at all) amount of effort into making sure they actually are eco-friendly. At Light by Liv, we will always be transparent about our green efforts and are always seeking new and better ways to make our products even more sustainable. Check out the tabs below for details on our non-toxic, vegan and eco-friendly claims.

I truly take pride in the products we create at Light by Liv, and I hope you love them as much as I love making them. If you ever have any questions about our products, their ingredients, their packaging and so on, please feel free to reach out to us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
